Traumatic Brain Injury Resources
I know first hand what it is like to deal with navigating through the shock and trauma of a loved one surviving a traumatic brain injury. I had a lot of questions. Here are some of my favourite resources for not only people experiencing an acquired brain injury, but concussions too. These resources will educate, provide support and enhance the quality of life for people living with a brain injury & their families/caregivers.
Love Your Brain
Love Your Brain’s mission is to Improve the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injury through programs that build community and foster resilience. LYB believes that yoga and meditation empower people to positively adapt to changes in their lives. They support people who have experienced a traumatic brain injury and their caregivers by offering a free, research-backed, six-week yoga and meditation series designed based on the science of resilience. They also offer retreats, resources & support online.
SameYou
Join Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and her charity SameYou, to raise funds and help increase neuro-rehabilitation access after brain injury and stroke. Emilia believes that when you suffer a brain injury your life is saved by emergency medical services, but in most countries, ongoing recovery care can be hard to find, extremely limited or simply unavailable. She wishes to change that which is why she founded SameYou.
Ontario Brain Injury Association
OBIA provides support, information, education, and advocacy programs and services to those affected by acquired brain injury in local communities within Ontario. OBIA offers training programs that develop, provide and disseminate information and educational tools that define, discuss and describe all aspects of acquired brain injury. OBIA has a support helpline and offers education and awareness through various certificate programs.
